Chapter Meetings

Chapter meetings are schedueld for the third Wednesday of each month. They are held inside the Brighton Town Hall located at 2300 Elmwood Ave. Look for us downstairs or in the Community Meeting Room. As always, meetings are open to the public. A fly tying demo is held at 7:30 p.m., and at 8:00 p.m. meetings will begin.

Sept 17, 2007 @ 7:30 p.m. Regular scheduled meeting

Alan Mack, of the Caledonia Fish Hatchery, will be the guest speaker.
Hear what Alan has to say about the hatchery and the surrounding streams. Fly tying demo by Scott Seidman.

Nominations for Board Members will be taking at during the meeting. Also, we'll be planning out activities for the current year.

Oct 17, 2007 @ 7:30 p.m. Regular scheduled meeting

Have you ever meet a DEC Officer in the field? Meet Captain Mike Van Dume and ask him your questions. Mike is in charge of the DEC Conservation Officers in Region 8. Can you guess which pattern Scott will tie this month? Don't miss his tying demo at 7:30 sharp.

Jan 25 – March 28, 2008 – Fly Tying Courses

Introduction to Fly Tying – 8 Friday evenings, from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
This course is intended to teach a novice or beginner the art of fly tying, how to tie well proportioned and well constructed fishing flies for trout fishing. The course consist of seven 2-hour teaching sessions and one 2-hour review session. [check it out]

Val Bauer will be presenting a slide show of his Alaska trip at this meeeting. Fly tying demo by Scott Seidman. Chapter business as always. We’ll see you at the meeting.

Dr. William Hallahan from Nazareth College will be our March speaker. His topic will be about stream insects as an indicator of water quality. The meeting will be held inside the Brighton Town Hall. Don't miss the fly tying demo by Scott Seidman.

Apr 26, 2008 - Fly Fishing School

Here are the details: Perington Community Center, Saturday, April 26, 2008, 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM

At the annual Fly Fishing School you will get a wonderful introduction to Fly Fishing. The intro will include: equipment and gear, stream entomology, where to fish, reading the stream, tying knots, and casting. Enroll online or contact ffschool@sethgreentu.org or phone 585-425-3059 for more info.

The speaker for the next meeting is Pete Osterman from the DEC. Pete will tell us about the study the DEC conducted on the Cohocton River. Stop in to the Brighton Town Hall. Not the last fly Scott will ever tie, but the last tying demo of the calendaar year.

Location TBA. The annual RAFFLE will be announced at the picnic. Winners of the RAFFLE do not need to be present to win. Bring your tying tools and material and maybe we can get a lesson or two from the legend himself.
