Chapter Picnic – Join Us

Pack the picnic basket and oil the lawn chair. The 2010 Chapter Picnic is scheduled at we hope you can make it and enjoy some fine food and good laughs. So pull up a seat at the bench and a cooler to the side in Black Creek Park at the Pathfinder shelter, June 16th. Grills will be fired up at 6:00 and dinner served at 7:00

There will also be a 50/50 raffle at the picnic. Tickets are $1.00 each so be sure to stop at the ATM on your way over. We ask that you bring a dish to pass. Some meats, like hamburgers and hot dogs, will be supplied but you may want to pack something for the grill as well. Beverages will not be supplied but please by all means bring your favorite relaxing beverage of your choice. And, as always, bring a guest – or even two or more! We want to extend our TU family so all ages are welcome. Bring a spouse, a son or daughter, a grandchild, or the entire family. This is an opportunity for us to teach others the mission and goals of TU, as well as what great things our chapter has accomplished in the recent years. Perhaps they will be the ones carrying out our legacy’s. Who knows what they can bring to our chapter and our local watersheds & cold waters if don’t bring our chapter to them.

The 2009 picnic was June 17 at Pond View Shelter in Mendon Ponds Park. Our special guest at the picnic was Ron Urban from the NYS Council of Trout Unlimited. Ron had a few words to share with us about the better bottle bill and other happenings in NYS. The annual chapter raffle was drawn during the picnic and our winners were announced (or contacted if they weren’t there).

Despite the down pouring rain, the grills were fired up and dinner was served as usual. The chapter picnic is a membership-family picnic and all chapter members and their guests were invited to attend. The event included great grilling through the extreme down pouring rain, and good eats. Of course fishing was impossible unless you were feeling like a water foul.

Grilled food such as hot dogs were supplied by the chapter, as well as soda and chips. Guests brought along a dish to pass and there was so much food everyone had a chance to walk away with a plate (or two) for home.

We?d love to see you at any of our events!
